One month old?!?!

I can't believe it!  Kylie turned one month old yesterday =)  As you can see from this picture she's surprised too *lol*

Photobucket

We took tons of pictures so if you click on this picture it'll take you to our picasa album and you can look through the rest.  Turns out it's darn hard to get a one month old to pose =)  She is doing great, still eating like a champ and mostly happy.  We think she has some colic since she cries a lot from 6-11pm  Sometimes the crying sounds like she's in pain, which is so sad.  Tomorrow we take in her sample to be tested to see if I need to stop soy and/or go to the GI specialist.  Hopefully we get it figured out soon!  Today I will pump for the first time and M will feed her.  I know he's looking forward to it and I'm looking forward to him being part of our feeding routine.

I'm feeling better all the time but stamina is pretty low still.  Maybe it's because of the lack of sleep or it could just be normal healing, who knows.  I've got 8.5 lbs left to lose to get back to pre-pregnancy weight and am back in at least one pair of my regular jeans =)  My hips are still wider than they were before so I got an abdominal support from Babies R Us and we'll see if it helps shrink them.  For any of you ladies getting ready to have a baby I'd recommend this support, I wish I would have had it sooner.

In non-baby news I've been working from home for 10 hrs a week and they are over loading me.  I'm going in to the office today to have a talk with my boss about it.  Fun times...not!  M heads back to work next week *boo*  I wish we could just find someone who wants to pay us to be at home with Kylie but baring that we will find a way to get back into the routine.  M's aunt is coming to visit tomorrow and Friday and a co-worker of his is coming to meet Kylie on Saturday.  Then Sunday we'll probably have dinner at my folks for the 4th.  It's amazing how much life slows down when a little one arrives!

Way to grow!

Kylie had her second appointment at the ped yesterday.  She is growing like a little weed!  Her weight at birth was 6lb 8oz and she was in the 25th percentile.  Now she is 8lb 10oz and is in the 50th percentile.  I'm so happy she's growing well and is healthy as can be!  It makes me a little sad that she's growing up so quickly though =(  We're trying to take daily pictures to remember this time.  It is flying by!  Here are a couple pictures from the last few days, one is her in the bouncer and the other is her getting her first submersion bath after losing her umbilical cord.

Unfortunately the so-so news from the doc is that there is still a trace amount of blood in her stool.  It may be from a small fissure on her behind or it may be from additional food allergies.  We'll heal the fissure and then retest next week to see.  If there is still blood I will stop soy and if that doesn't resolve things our ped will refer us to a GI specialist.  Hopefully with just a trace around the elimination of dairy a couple weeks ago was the issue.

I'm healing well and starting to get my energy back.  With tomorrow being the 4 week mark it's about time =)  It's been really hot here so it's been a bit hard to get out and walk but we're trying to get our for errands or a walk each day.  Sleeping at night is still not on Kylie's top 5 things to do so I'm still feeling pretty fatigued but am starting to get use to being in a haze most of the time.

This weekend a couple friends are coming to meet her on Saturday and we don't have many other plans.  Hope all my bloggy girls have a great weekend!

Today is what?!?!

For our whole lives we have celebrated this holiday with our Father's and now after three painful TTC years M gets to join in on the festivities =)  He went and played golf with my Dad and brother yesterday and today he got some new gadgets for his camera, a picture frame for his desk at work with Kylie's picture and has enjoyed full control of the remote *lol*  We so far have watched soccer, baseball and golf.  Here's a photo of M and Kylie napping yesterday after golf...

We can't help feel a little strange about the day though.  It still feels too good to be true and we also haven't forgotten what it was like the last three years.  I hope all of TTC girls and their DH's are doing something special today to treat themselves.

I know I recently posted a thank you to my wonderful husband.  He truly is my rock and is a Father that every little girl dreams of having.  It seems to come so natural to him!  Thank you M, I love you and hope you have a wonderful day =)

Napping is the name of the game!

A little update on us...Kylie is now a whopping two and a half weeks old!  I can't believe it.  When I was pregnant a good friend of mine, who has a 6 month old, kept telling me to get all the rest I could. I kept thinking, I'm 8 months pregnant...how the heck am I suppose to get rest?!?! Between the getting up to pee and fighting an aching body every hour on the hour it seemed impossible. But honestly I'm glad I spent the last month or so trying to sleep all I could. It turns out there's a HUGE difference between waking every hour for a couple minutes and waking up 3 times a night for 45 minutes at a shot.  So here is a very appropriate picture from my last couple weeks, this is pretty much how my days are spent.  You can see my puppies are getting use to napping with the newest member of the pack.  You can also see I'm a huge doggie and baby pillow =)

Nursing is still going really well and Kylie is growing like a weed.  I think we probably only have a week left in her cute newborn outfits.  She's officially moved out of the preemie diapers into the newborn ones...and sadly has her first case of diaper rash.  We'll move onto cloth diapers after she reaches 8 lbs and when we run out of the disposable newborn diapers we were given at our shower.  Our next appointment is Thursday the 24th to check and see if stopping dairy has helped her colitis *fingers crossed*

My recovery is going well.  The incision looks good and I'm starting to feel less pulling on the internal sutures all the time.  I still have some bleeding but that's to be expected.  It's light most of the time but gets heavy every now and then.  Over the weekend it rained most of the time so it was hard to get out and about.  Luckily friends came to visit each day.  Today the sun came out and we made it out on our first stroll around the neighborhood.  Here's a picture from the outing:

Not much else to share...but I hadn't posted pictures in a bit so I thought I'd catch up all my bloggin ladies!

First postpartum appointment

Like all OB appointments it was pretty uneventful.  First they weighed me in, down 20 lbs =)  That means I have 10 lbs of pregnancy weight to get rid of...not so bad.  Then she removed the steri-strips covering the incision, told me that all looks good and removed my restrictions on walking and driving.  Restrictions on lifting anything heavier than Kylie and more involved cardio stay in place until my next appointment at 6 weeks postpartum.  M & I are really looking forward to starting to take some walks in the nice spring weather.  Unfortunately this weekend we're expecting lots of rain *BOO*

Before leaving the OB's office I fed Kylie, M changed her and then we headed out.  M had to run by work to quickly get something for a co-worker out of his locked desk, then we ran by our favorite burger place for lunch and then went to Whole Foods for some almond milk, soy yogurt and bread w/o milk (who the heck knew that most breads have milk in them?!?!).  Kylie was so good through our whole outing, she slept the whole time!  The world seems kind of overwhelming to M and I right now...learning how to be out and about with Kylie will take some getting use to but is fun =)

Yesterday was a mostly dairy free day, only milk with my cereal in the morning.  Kylie went to sleep great and slept 3-4 hour stretches all night.  So hopefully this non-dairy diet will really help her out.  I will just keep dreaming of a huge sundae when I stop nursing ;-)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

Kylie's two week appointment

We had our first appointment with the pediatrician today and it turns out that our little girl really knows how to eat! She is up 14 oz since we left the hospital and now weighs in at whopping 7 lbs 1 oz. She has also grown from 19" to 19.5". This is great news as we can now let her sleep one 6 hour stretch at night. At least we're keeping our fingers crossed it's at night!  We're still struggling there...

The not so good news of the day is that she is allergic to something I'm eating. The most common allergy is cow milk protein, so as of now I'm off of any form of dairy. Good-bye milk, yogurt, cheese and ICE CREAM *sniff, sniff* We go back in two weeks and if signs of the allergy are still present I'll be taken off anything with soy and peanuts as well.  But anything to keep my little girl happy and healthy =)

I head in for my check-in with the OB tomorrow.  Hopefully I'll be cleared to drive and start taking walks around the hood!

Home and loving it!

M, Kylie and I made our way home from the hospital on Wednesday.  It was so surreal to walk out of the hospital with a baby!  We've been there so much over the past few months for classes, tours, OB appointments, etc.  that it just felt so strange...and wonderful.  When we got home we realized that no matter how much we'd prepared for her arrival we still had a lot to do.  After getting home around 3pm, M headed to the grocery store to get my pain med Rx filled and some groceries and then had a whole host of things to do when he got home...all of which I couldn't help with because I'm pretty couch bound recovering.  We finally got to bed and had a super rough night, making me extra thankful we had decided on the extra night in the hospital.

Wednesday night we only got 6 hrs of sleep from 9:30pm to 9:30am and the other 6 hrs was spent trying to calm a fussy, over tired little girl.  Poor thing!  When I was pregnant and was waking often I thought it would prepare me for this time but it didn't really.  As BTDT Mom's know it's really hard to wake up so much in the middle of the night...but worth every second.  I'm very happy to report that we managed to get a few naps in yesterday and last night went MUCH better, we got 7 hrs of sleep from 9:30 to 7:30 and were up just twice to feed, diaper, etc.  Hopefully we can build on that =)  Kylie had gained 3oz of the 8oz she lost after birth before we left the hospital.  The pediatrician said that if by next week at our first ped appt if she had gained the right amount of weight they would clear us to let her sleep 6 hrs at night.  That would be lovely, now just getting her to buy into the plan!

My c/s recovery is going well.  I'm still on pain meds 4x a day and stairs aren't fun but aren't horrible either.  The hardest thing is getting in and out of bed but it continues to get easier every day.  Comparing it to my LAP recovery I'd say it's similar but pretty much double the pain and difficulty.  The spinal was much better than the general anesthesia though.

Now to the important part, some pictures of our little girl, the first was taken right before we left the hospital on Wednesday.

And this is our little family at home last night.

Thank you for all your wonderful messages, I am truly lucky to call you all friends!!!
