The weekend...

Friday our poor little pooch had 13 teeth taken out =(  He's a Chihuahua and I know they are known for dental problems but WOW.  I also didn't know that dogs have 42 teeth.  Apparently the ones he lost aren't used for eating so after his week on antibiotics/anti-inflammatories and two weeks of soft food he should be good as new. For now though he's a little swollen and sad.  Get better Paco!!!

Saturday we had a nice morning at the butterfly pavilion.  We got a year membership there through Groupon for $35 =)  So nice to have a warm place to go and run around during the winter in Colorado.  This time they also had a special event going so there was a guy with a guitar playing kids music and K thought he was pretty cool.  Here she is sitting on a rock wall in the butterfly area, I love that it looks like she's making a little monkey face while she's wearing her fuzzy monkey shirt =)

On the way home K told us her ear hurt so we swung by the ped's office (thank goodness for Saturday hours!) and they told us she had a big ball of wax in her ear and when they tried to remove it there was blood.  Apparently the wax can stick to the skin of the ear canal.  Short story - they gave us antibiotics but couldn't tell for sure she needed them.  What?  We didn't give them to her since she is sleeping well and not showing any other signs of an ear infection.  We'll be trying hydrogen peroxide with water (the peds suggestion) to get the wax out starting tonight.  We needed to wait until the scab healed or it would hurt.  Apparently it eats away at the wax.  Blech.  That afternoon she woke up from her nap with a fever of 103 and was CRABBY so we canceled our dinner plans and took a family nap on our bed.  She never takes another nap so she must have been feeling really crappy.  We learned why people co-sleep (they are adorable when they snuggle into you) but we don't know how they do (hello baby fist to the face every 30 minutes).

Sunday we did our normal laundry, cooking, grocery shopping stuff in the morning and then went to my parents for a visit after her nap.  All day she was totally happy and no signs of the fever.  This is two Saturday's in a row of fever.  Weird.  All we can figure is new viruses.  So that's #30 if anyone (besides me) is counting.  Boo, hiss.  Anyway, she's back to her normal happy self, just with a runny nose and mild cough.    Here she is giving her baby a sip of mommy's (empty) soda.

That about wraps the weekend up!  Hope everyone had a good one =)   I just wish weekends didn't go so fast!

Randoms

I have been one lazy blogger for the last month or so!  So  to catch up in the most efficient fashion I'm thinking bullets today, so please bear with me:

  • Kylie has illness #29.  OMG!  I feel so sorry for her.  One day she will know what it's like to be healthy for over a month...I promise.  This has to be the only thing I really dislike about her being in daycare.  I love that she has fun there and enjoys playing with her little friends so much.  Maybe if she didn't give her friends so many hugs and kisses she wouldn't get all these colds...but where would the fun in that be?
  • This past weekend we got to catch up with our good friends from the town we use to live in.  There were six of us adults and 5 kids (ages 3.5, 2.5, 1.5, 11 months and 2 months).  We're not outnumbered yet!  We had a yummy brunch and watched all the kids play together for a couple hours before disbanding for our various napping locations.  Party animals!
  • Monitoring cycle has gone ok.  E2 was 91 just before O - so that's a little low.  Not sure it makes any difference in the chances for a natural FET, I don't think so.  My 6DPO progesterone came in at 8.24 which is also low, I believe they want a natural cycle level at 10 or above.  But it does indicate ovulation which is good and O was also confirmed in the 6DPO ultrasound.  It likely confirms our plan to supplement in the LP with progesterone.  We'll be doing another monitoring cycle this next month (see how much hope I have for a natural cycle to work?) and then we'll meet with the doc in late March or early April to put a plan together for our FET in late June or early July.
  • I know this is old news but it's too good not to share.  The weekend before last we got invited to a surprise 40th b-day party for Mike's boss.  His wife was throwing it and the invite said something about an "R rated stripper".  We felt politically obligated to go but didn't know anyone except the guest of honor and his wife.  The short story is that this was his wifes first stripper experience and it turned out very differently than she planned.  Let's just say it did not stay R rated...it went XXX my friends.  And the crowd of PhD scientists, spouses and....wait for it...the b-day boys Mom and sister...oh yes....were all stunned.  It was our first night out after Kylie had gone down for bed (my Dad came and sat with her).   Before the party I was calling it my first adult night back on the town since I hadn't been to a night time house party in over 2 years.  I'm no prude but this evening was a little too adult.  It did however provide us with endless ammunition for taunting his boss in the future and we will be very cautiously screening any gatherings they might invite us to in the future.  You can't make this stuff up!
  • Enough bullets you say?  Ok, here are some pics:

She BEGGED me to paint her nails the day before Valentine's.  She sat so still and even let me blow on them until they were dry.  I think it's official, this tomgirl has a girly girl =)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Monitoring Underway

Today was my first "peak" day on the CBEFM and I went in for b/w (results will come back on Monday) and an u/s. The u/s showed lining at 12.6mm with triple stripe and a 20mm follicle on ol' leftie. The doc is starting me on 25mg of Synthroid for my thyroid (TSH=2.59) and took blood today for E2 and thyroid antibodies. Next week I'll have another u/s to check lining conversion and P4.  So far things are lookin' pretty good for that natural FET cycle in June =)

Fun Snowy Weekend

Thursday night and Friday mother nature dropped about 18" of snow at our house.  Luckily Friday was a snow day from both M and my work as well as K's daycare.  We played inside and even made it outside to build little snowmen in the afternoon.  I took a nice long nap during her nap time, which was lovely.  A good day off to say the least.  Saturday we had another lazy day around the house letting the roads improve. By mid day Saturday they were pretty darn good and the sun had come out so we went out to dinner with my parents for Mexican food (love!).  Today we had to buckle down and do the grocery shopping, laundry, clean stalls (we have 2 horses) and work out.  Anyway I thought I'd share some pictures of playing out in the snow =)

The little snow person M made K and K doing her favorite snow activity - eating snow!

After our trip out to the snow we went in the hot tub...does this girl know how to wear a suit or what?!
