Friday our poor little pooch had 13 teeth taken out =( He's a Chihuahua and I know they are known for dental problems but WOW. I also didn't know that dogs have 42 teeth. Apparently the ones he lost aren't used for eating so after his week on antibiotics/anti-inflammatories and two weeks of soft food he should be good as new. For now though he's a little swollen and sad. Get better Paco!!!
Saturday we had a nice morning at the butterfly pavilion. We got a year membership there through Groupon for $35 =) So nice to have a warm place to go and run around during the winter in Colorado. This time they also had a special event going so there was a guy with a guitar playing kids music and K thought he was pretty cool. Here she is sitting on a rock wall in the butterfly area, I love that it looks like she's making a little monkey face while she's wearing her fuzzy monkey shirt =)
On the way home K told us her ear hurt so we swung by the ped's office (thank goodness for Saturday hours!) and they told us she had a big ball of wax in her ear and when they tried to remove it there was blood. Apparently the wax can stick to the skin of the ear canal. Short story - they gave us antibiotics but couldn't tell for sure she needed them. What? We didn't give them to her since she is sleeping well and not showing any other signs of an ear infection. We'll be trying hydrogen peroxide with water (the peds suggestion) to get the wax out starting tonight. We needed to wait until the scab healed or it would hurt. Apparently it eats away at the wax. Blech. That afternoon she woke up from her nap with a fever of 103 and was CRABBY so we canceled our dinner plans and took a family nap on our bed. She never takes another nap so she must have been feeling really crappy. We learned why people co-sleep (they are adorable when they snuggle into you) but we don't know how they do (hello baby fist to the face every 30 minutes).
Sunday we did our normal laundry, cooking, grocery shopping stuff in the morning and then went to my parents for a visit after her nap. All day she was totally happy and no signs of the fever. This is two Saturday's in a row of fever. Weird. All we can figure is new viruses. So that's #30 if anyone (besides me) is counting. Boo, hiss. Anyway, she's back to her normal happy self, just with a runny nose and mild cough. Here she is giving her baby a sip of mommy's (empty) soda.
That about wraps the weekend up! Hope everyone had a good one =) I just wish weekends didn't go so fast!
Number 30! That is unreal!
ReplyDeleteWow that many teeth?! I had no idea either!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about the ear issues but hopefully her ear will feel better! My parents always did the hydrogen peroxide for us too!
Great picture of your "little monkey"! She is gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard of hydrogen peroxide. I'll have to remember that one. My granny and my mom used to warm up a bit of olive oil and put a few drops in our ears and stuff in some cotton. The oil would drip back out while we slept and always seemed to bring a bunch of junk with it. Weird, but it worked--plus, it was oddly comforting to have the warm oil in the ear.
Poor Paco! I hope he feels better soon!
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures. Kylie is so adorable! I can't believe how fast she is growing.
So behind on blogging commenting :( I suck!!
ReplyDeleteShe is just so stinking cute!! Glad she's feeling better! Being sick stinks!
Sorry little miss has had such a bad run of colds. Ugh. :( But ADORABLE pic giving her baby a drink. :)
ReplyDeletePoor Paco!! I just read another post today about someone's chihuahuas needing lots of teeth taken out. :( (One of hers was also named Chai which made me think of you and your little Chai :( .)
ReplyDeletePoor little Kylie -- once again! This is just crazy!!
