Potty Training - Part II

Advice? I hear boys can be harder than girls. We're more of a go with the flow (HA!) type rather than a 3 day boot camp type if that makes any difference in the advice.

C has gone in the potty 5 times over the last two days! Good job big guy =)

  1. Sadly, no. D and S are all about the delayed potty training. We're also more of the go with the flow types, and they just haven't seemed to care. And, with two of them, they just keep feeding off the other one!

We've tried a couple of cold turkey and slow wean times but it has led to some constipation, so that wasn't good. They both can do it and, at home, S is pretty consistent about going pee in the potty and has tried pooping. D knows how/when but doesn't really care.

Their preschool has been working with us and is an age 2-5 school so is Ok with diapers. The boys have stated that they are going to start going at school this summer because (this was their worked out decisions) "the teacher won't have a lot of help since the college girls won't be around so it will be easier for her." They told her that and she just went "Awwww..."

So, in short, I'm hoping that they really do know what they need to do and have just set their own "twinny" timeline and are planning on sticking to it. Whenever I mention it to them they say "no, mom, this summer."

Of course, I'm not really sure they know when that is...

    Good luck!

  2. Oh, also, there were four kids all around the same age that needed to be trained and they were all using each other as the excuse not to do it. D and S just didn't care. Their friend A said "well, D and S don't go" and then a little girl L said "yeah, but A doesn't go." So, they tried them all in underwear one day and said "ok, everyone, go." After a week or two, A and L went with it but D and S just sat on different potties in the two bathrooms next door to each other and yelled and giggled back and forth. Sigh...

    1. We'll see how much motivation remains. He went on it a few times over the weekend but I think is pretty much still in the same camp and D & S. Let me know if you find some magic solution to motivate them =)

  3. N didn't potty train until he was 3 and some change, and it was forced on him because his preschool class expected kids to be trained. He was still more than happy to walk around with a giant load in his diaper. We did a crash course. He didn't care about rewards, so I just left him pantsless for a week. He hated having accidents on the floor, and he caught on quick! It took a while for him to not have accidents at preschool, but it was good enough. Haha! Poor guy still isn't trained overnight, but I think that's genetic. My husband actually needed hormone therapy for it when he was a kid. I hope it doesn't come to that for N!!

  4. Naked training helped Asher get it fast. We potty trained in January/February. He did best when he was naked, and it didn't take a long time. Pretty easy. Good luck!
