She's TWO!

Well, it's official at 8:50am this morning K turned two =)  These milestones make me tear up for the simple fact that I am so grateful that we have her in our lives.  She is kind, sensitive, smiley, cute as all get out and just a general joy.  Every single day I feel like we won the baby lottery!

Here are a few updates on our big girl:

Stats: She is 27lb (56th%) and 34" (56th) but may have added some weight after the 3 pieces of pizza and full cupcake she ate at her b-day party yesterday!  She's got all 20 teeth now and we are thankful teething is OVER.

Food: She's always been a great eater.  Right now it seems like she either eats like a bird or a horse at any given meal.  In the past she's been a good veggie eater but she's taking a break on them.  She still will eat a little but she focuses on the meat and then carbs.  What can I say, she's totally my daughter.  I didn't eat green veggies until I was 30 - and now I do just because I know I need to, not because I like them. *lol*  We're still nursing once a day but will be weaning the middle of June, sigh.  K asks for "milk", to "switch sides" and tells me when the "milk is all gone".  Adorable.

Skills: Her verbal skills are amazing - she's probably saying 200+ words.  I lost track a while ago.  She'll repeat anything and everything.  Final training of Mom and Dad is complete =)  So far no bad words but I'm sure they are coming.  The closest is that anytime she sees a police officer she says, "uh-oh, the poe-poe" and laughs covering her mouth.  Totally hilarious.  She loves to sing and dance.  She knows the words to Happy Birthday, the alphabet song (which she calls "ABCD Again" since I always ask "Again?" when she wants to sing it over and over), Ring Around the Rosie, Patty Cake, Twinkle Twinkle and You Are My Sunshine.  I'm sure there's more she knows from school to.  Dancing is a must each and every day.  Recently she's wanted me to twirl her and do somersaults with her so she might just be into gymnastics at some point.  We'll see.

Favorite things:  Riding on the tractor (aka our riding lawn mower), feeding the horses and chickens snack, playing outside, rocks, dancing, singing, reading, hair ties, dresses, sandals, her vitamins, baths, ice water and her baby doll.

B-day Party Deets:  We had her b-day at the park yesterday.  About 25 people came and she had a great time.  She played in the sand, on the playground on the swings with her little friends and enjoyed all the attention.  Last year I made all the food/cakes and this year I went the easy route, ordering pizza and cupcakes.  We also had fruit and veggie trays in an attempt to balance out the food pyramid.  She got a pedal tractor, picnic table, sit-n-spin, sidewalk chalk, play doh, bubble machine, aqua doodle, clothes & books from her generous party friends and grandparents.  Tonight we'll give her the Mrs. Potato Head and medical kit we got her along with a few other small odds and ends.  We'll also enjoy another cupcake since she loved this one so much =)

Happy birthday our sweet girl!

New Weekend Plans

Thanks for all your support for cancelling the trip.  It's amazing how much guilt one can feel even when you know you're doing the right thing.  I wouldn't have forgiven myself if she screamed in pain the whole flight.  The good news is that K seems to be starting to feel better =)  She's sleeping more comfortably and we're all starting to get some rest again.  Hopefully this 1st antibiotic does the job on this ear infection *fingers crossed*

M and I decided to take tomorrow off even though our trip was cancelled.  K will still go to school and we'll get a bunch of things done that are much harder with her home.  So far on M's list is spraying weeds (we live on 3 acres so this is a big job) and fixing his laptop.  On my list is grocery shopping and cleaning out my closet of clothes I haven't worn in forever...I honestly haven't cleaned out my closet in over 3 years *eek*  I'm trying to talk M into this too but we will see.  After that we will make a trip to donate the clothes we clean out then to Ross for a few new summer duds.  I don't buy new clothes often so hopefully I find some good ones.  Ross is always hit or miss.  I'm also going to look at new bras in preparation for me to stop nursing here in a few weeks.  I tried on one of my old under wire ones last weekend and thought I'd been put on a mid-evil torture device!  Any BTDT advice on bras after nursing?

My MIL's b-day is tomorrow and we had the perfect gift but they shipped the wrong one (just cruel).  We returned it and they re-shipped the wrong one again!  Now we don't have time to monkey with them sending another one so we'll need to find something for her *ugh*  Tomorrow evening we'll go to her b-day party.  We were going to miss this with our trip so it's the big silver lining in us staying home.  We will now be here to help her celebrate her 60th =)

I hope that Saturday and Sunday are filled with a lot of playing outside in the nice sunny weather and maybe even a nap or two.  A girl can dream!  We may sneak in a trip to the zoo and will need to get the normal chores done but have no real plans other than that.  Monday is K's 2nd b-day party.  We have all the decorations, it's a luau theme, and cupcakes will be ready on Monday morning.  I have her gifts and need to wrap them this weekend but otherwise there's not much to prepare.  Bring on the b-day party weekend =)  Hope you all have a fun Memorial Day planned!

Trip Cancelled

K has another ear infection =(  She is on the 2nd of the three antibiotics she took for her last ear infection in April.  Hopefully this bacteria responds to it better than the last.  The ped said we could still fly on Thursday if the trip was essential, but she would likely be uncomfortable.  She suggested that we could medicate her and keep her as comfortable as we can.  If anyone remembers our trip to Portland last August with 2 hrs of SCREAMING on our flight...that was also with an ear infection after three days on antibiotics.  She is in pain just laying down for sleep (so says the hour long wake up scream session from midnight to 1am last night) so we have decided to cancel our trip.  The trip was a Christmas present from my Mom to attend my nephews graduation. Ugh.  I feel really guilty for canceling, like somehow I'm just being one of those snively parents that puts my little angels comforts above all else.  But I'm her mom and it's my job, right?  I haven't told my family yet...suppose I should do that.

M's Birthday!!!

We had a fantastic weekend =)  Friday we played 9 holes in the morning.  The weather was perfect - mid 70's with overcast.  Then we went to have a sushi/tempura lunch at a new place and it was super yummy.  After lunch we went wine tasting and then had some frozen yogurt before picking up K at daycare.  We did fun family things all weekend including dinner with my family at a Belgian beer place and lunch at M's favorite pizza joint with his family.  K and I even managed to surprise him with a latte and donuts yesterday morning (his actual b-day).  It was a busy weekend but super fun!  Here are M & K dancing yesterday *heart melt*

On Saturday my parents bought over her big b-day presents since they will be out of town for her party next Monday.  She LOVES her new tractor and chair =)  Every morning she comes upstairs and says "My tractor!"  Excuse the big stock of diapers/wipes.  We were stocking up *lol*

Unforatunatly the cold she got a week ago Friday is still with us and this morning she told me on the way to school, "Mama, Kylie ear hurt. Doctor.  Ear. Fast."  She associates fast with the doctor because we always tell her the doctor will be fast when she gets nervous.  So needless to say we have a doctors appointment tonight...they are squeezing us in at 7:25.  Keep your fingers crossed that she doesn't have an ear infection or the walking pneumonia that has been going around at her daycare!  Anyone care to place bets on whether we make it on our plane trip Thursday?!?!

BOO

This weekend is M's birthday and we have all kinds of fun plans.  Friday we're playing 9 holes in the morning and going wine tasting in the afternoon. Saturday we have dinner with my folks and Sunday we have dinner with his, both out at his favorite restaurants.  Then we're flying out next Thursday for three days in AZ for my nephews graduation.

With all this fun coming up I bet you are wondering why the "BOO!" title.  Well, K has been sick since last Friday and I just came down with her cold yesterday. My colds usually last 10-14 days so this means I'll be sick for M's b-day weekend and our trip.  Plus, who has the worst timing? Aunt Flow of course. She should arrive the day before we leave for AZ.  Sick and AF while traveling - ugh!

Time to put my big girl panties on and ignore it all =)  I'll be forcing fluids, doing nasal salt water flushes and taking echinacea and wheat grass trying to make this cold go away as quick as possible.  The silver lining is that K should be better by the time we travel next week *fingers crossed*

And because you've been so patient with my drivel and need to leave with a smile here is Miss cutie-pie K doing some art work this weekend, her first time using water colors and she loved it!

My DH Rocks!

K woke up Friday with cold #35.  So as you can already surmise we are not rested and have had a bit of a challenging weekend.  We got 5-6 hours of sleep a night since Thursday because K's coughing is extra vicious and wakes us all up.  But with that said, my DH made the weekend everything it could possibly be...he rocks!

Saturday he played with K while I baked some muffins and I love to bake so that was fun.  Then he let me play with K while he steam cleaned carpets, which I hate to do.  Then he let me nap (even if it was 30 minutes) while K was napping while he went and did the grocery shopping. We then planted my Mom's annual flower pots as our Mother's Day gift for her and then I made dinner.

Sunday he started the morning by giving me the card that he and K made (with her hand print in it) and presents (a gift certificate for a facial and some garden decorations).  We then went to the Butterfly Pavilion with my folks and his Mom and home for brunch.  M and my dad made a yummy breakfast of eggs, sausage, cantaloupe, potatoes and my muffins from the day before.  AND cleaned up from  brunch.  None of us ladies lifted a finger except for drinking our mimosas.  Then he again let me nap while K did (this time for 1.5 hrs) while he did chores (cleaned the horse stalls, chicken runs, etc.  When K and I got up we had snack and went outside to plant flowers.  K got a little bored after she went Lenny on a worm...and so M took her to go pick up a pizza for dinner while I finished planting.  Now we have our annuals and tomatoes planted which always makes me happy =)  We had a yummy dinner and wrapped up a great weekend!

We only got about 5 hrs of sleep again last night so Monday is looking extra lame but I feel so loved and pampered after my weekend that it's ok =)

Here are a few pictures from yesterday:

Our new annuals and the decorations I got for Mother's Day (the spinning flower and the turtles in front of the rock)

Hope all of you mama out there had an amazing day!  And for you soon-to-be-mamas still struggling with IF, you were on my mind and I'm sending all the baby dust I can muster {{{HUGS}}}
