Wow, What a Weekend!

Friday night we had my folks over for dinner. They love spending time with K and watching all the new skills she's picked up.  After dinner she sang about 5 songs, complete with hand motions.  She's really getting good at them and is getting to a stage where she doesn't mind showing off now and then.  Adorable!

Saturday morning we went to the park, M & I had our monthly chiropractor appointments (K waiting patiently while having snack and watching Yo Gabba Gabba) and we went grocery shopping all before nap time.  During K's nap I went to use my Mother's Day gift, a facial, which was fantastic.  While I was gone M ran on our treadmill, kegged some beer and fixed our kitchen sink which has been out of order for 2 weeks because of a back ordered part.  So happy to have that back!  

Sunday morning we went to the zoo with M's mom.  We got there early and had lots of fun looking at the monkeys, elephants, penguins, etc. and also rode the carousel and train.  We ate a picnic lunch there while watching the elephant show.  It was HOT so we left around noon and got some ice cream at McD's on the way home.  She napped for 3.5 hrs and during that time we did some trip planning for our flight to SLC this upcoming weekend and M went to get grain for the horses while I ran on the treadmill.  

All in all a very fun and productive weekend!  Unfortunately last night she woke up at 1:30am complaining of back pain.  She was up until the ibuprofen kicked in around 2:30 and did well the rest of the night.  This morning she said it didn't hurt anymore.  Not sure if it's growing pains or maybe some ill fitting shoes and lots of walking at the zoo...anyone have any little ones reporting back pain?  

After reading all that you deserve a cuteness reward ;-)  Here is Miss K doing some laps on the patio.  She does this almost every morning before school.

The New FET Plan

Had a phone consult with my RE yesterday. Apparently the 2mg of estrogen I was on for my "natural" FET likely caused me not to O and have an anovulatory cycle. I've also been having horrible headaches for about a week and they are probably from estrogen withdrawal from stopping the meds. Apparently estrogen is my enemy *LOL* This is all annoying because I didn't want to do the estrogen in the first place but my RE asked me to.  Now that my cycle is all messed up my RE believes that the best chance is with a "programmed" cycle.  So we will move forward with a fully medicated FET (BCPs + Lupron) when AF arrives. If she doesn't arrive on her own by mid next week we will induce with Provera. Looks like two months of hormone hell and mid September before transfer *sigh* At least there's a plan and we're moving forward so that's a plus.

In other news we will be going to visit family in SLC next Thursday for four days.  We haven't taken a trip that involved flying since out nightmare 2 hour scream-fest flight to Portland last August so I'm hoping we have better luck this time around.  It'll be nice to get out of town for a few days and maybe build up our confidence in traveling again *fingers crossed*

Baby Bunny

M found a baby bunny out in the open with two dead siblings on Sunday around 10am =(  We brought Peter Cottontail in, put him in a box with soft towels and set out to do some research on how to rehab the bunny.  I read that cow milk wasn't good for him but I didn't have any of the recommended kitten milk replacement handy so I gave him a little bit (1cc) of breast milk that I had frozen.  Who knew it would come in handy for such a thing?  He loved it and nursed on the little dropper (and on my thumb), unbelievably adorable.  After talking to vet friends and doing more research I discovered that only 10% of baby bunnies make it when trying to be rehabed.  So we searched high and low to find the nest and were finally successful.  We put him back in the nest around 10pm  and think there was at least one sibling still left in the nest but it was hard to tell since the nest is a narrow hole.  We hope that mama came back and our little Peter Cottontail will be up and eating all our flowers in no time!

Frustrated but OK

Thanks for all the support on our cancelled FET girls!  It is really frustrating and we'd been looking forward to this since last year, but in the land of IF a girl has to expect some road blocks and I can't really say I'm surprised.  My IVF cycle went so smooth so maybe when I'm fully hopped up on the meds my body will cooperate again.  Now I'm just waiting for AF to get started on the BCPs.  My guess is that transfer will be and the end of August now.  More waiting - lovely.  

One HUGE difference in this wait is our precious little K.  After finding out about the cancelled cycle I left work and picked her up at school.  We went home and played in the yard, snuggled in the grass and sang songs together.  Reminding me once again how worth it the hassle of treatments really is.  After all, how upset can you be when you get to look at this face every day?

FET cancelled

GRRR!!!  The u/s showed the largest follicle at 9mm this morning.  My E2 went down from 158 to 97 and my P4 didn't go up enough to indicate ovulation (.15 last time to .17 this time) which likely means I'm not going to ovulate this cycle.  My RE said we could push through with the transfer but that it's a sub-optimal cycle so we elected to cancel.   I had ovulated EVERY cycle since K was born until this one so it's very frustrating.  My RE thinks the best option is a "fully medicated" FET which includes a month of BCPs, Lupron shots, high dose estrogen, etc.  That pushes the timeline back to late Aug or early Sept.  That is the time of year we did our fresh IVF 3 years ago so maybe it's just meant to be =)  Until then I'll be in a hormone whacky state on all the meds *BOO*

Happy 4th!

Hope everyone had a fun and safe holiday =)  We started our celebrations on the 3rd with a fireworks show at my boss' house.  He lives on a golf course and they shot the fireworks off no more than 100 yards from his back yard.  Nice!  K was home catching some zzz's before we left to go to the party, she would have never made the 10pm kick-off time.   

On the 4th itself we had a wonderful laid back day.  K took pity on us and slept in until 7:45 which was lovely.  We went to the park after breakfast, to my folks for a visit and home for lunch and nap.  After nap we went out for ice cream and K had her very own cone...and finished the whole darn thing!  Here she is in her red, white and blue:

I'll add a short FET update...progress is slow.  It looks like I won't be ready to trigger until middle of next week and that would put transfer the middle of the next week.  Slow and steady wins the race, right?

The Weekend in Pictures

To end the suspense (I know you've all been on the edge of your seat) the coyote got both Lucy and Ethel =(  We decided to end our chicken farming and sold the coop on craigs.list this weekend.  It was so fun to have them but we can't mark our house as the local coyote fast food joint...not with a small child and a small dog.  And we're not prepared to re-fence the chicken yard (which is 12' wide x 70' long) to make it 6' tall instead of 4', so that's it.

On to more fun topics...this weekend was so fun!  Busy and hot, but fun.  Both days were over 100 so we did most of our outdoor stuff in the mornings.  Saturday we went to the park first thing, she had a great time on the swing and slide:

Then we ran errands and came home for lunch.  After K's nap we drove to M's folks house and took Famous Dave's BBQ for his Dad's b-day.  Yum.  It's an hour drive each way to their house but K did great and had a good time at Grandma & Grandpa's house.  She loves playing with her Grandma =)  After we got home and got her bath, story and bedtime done my Dad came to stay with her while we went to go listen to some live music.  M's co-worker was singing, mostly Blues, and it was fun to get out and about.  We left around 8:45 and got home about 11.  K woke up Sunday at 5:30 and we let her play in her room until 6:15 *yawn*  About 10 minutes after getting up she insisted we put her in a pink dress for the day:

After breakfast she mowed the yard (riding mower) with M, which she loves!  While they did that I did some laundry and cleaned up inside.  Then she played in the yard while I trimmed shoots off 11 trees and M cleaned our horse stalls.  Then the buyer for the coop came and picked it up.  Quite a lot of activity before 11am!  So we all napped to recover =)  When we got up K and M painted and played with play-doh in the dining room while I buzzed around (finished laundry, cleaned the fish tank and watered plants).  Then we went in our hot tub, which is a cold tub right now:

She likes it but our stay is short, she still gets a little nervous in water deeper than a bath tub.  And finally we finished by going out for dinner with my folks at our favorite Mexican restaurant.  And just like that another Monday is here!  I couldn't resist including this picture from last week - she LOVES having her nails painted and here she is showing them off:
